The Art of Handcrafted Leather

Every CCY Studio piece is produced in limited runs or as one-of-a-kind commissions.
Each design is hand-drawn, hand-cut, and individually assembled — ensuring no two items are ever identical.

Our custom design service allows clients to collaborate directly with the maker, creating a personal object imbued with meaning and made to be kept, not replaced.

Crafted from Genuine Australian Leather

Each piece begins with the selection of authentic Australian hides, chosen for their natural grain, resilience, and tactile quality.
Only leathers that embody both durability and character make it to the workbench.

Complemented by premium metal hardware, every material is considered not only for strength but for the subtle elegance it contributes to the finished form.

The result is leatherwork that feels as substantial as it looks — honest, functional, and refined.

A Fusion of Tradition and Technique

Our process combines the precision of traditional methods with the sensitivity of modern design.

Every stage — from hand creasing and edge polishing to cutting, waxing, and burnishing — is performed with intent.

The stitching, edging, and finishing are approached as design elements in themselves, not merely construction.

Each surface tells a quiet story of craftsmanship, guided by touch, patience, and discipline.

The Integrity of the Saddle Stitch

At the core of CCY Studio’s work lies the double saddle stitch — a hallmark of durability and artistry.

Executed with two needles and a single continuous thread, it interlocks each stitch with the next, forming a seam that is both elegant and unyielding.

Where machine stitching may unravel, the saddle stitch endures, binding strength with beauty in perfect symmetry.
It is slow, exacting work — but it is this very precision that defines our standard of quality.

The Studio

Nestled in the heart of Newcastle, NSW, our studio is a working atelier — a space filled with the quiet rhythm of hand tools and the scent of natural leather.

Visitors are welcome to experience the craft firsthand: to see patterns drawn, hides prepared, and stitches formed.
It’s an environment shaped by patience and precision — where every piece begins as an idea and ends as an heirloom.
